Our Summer fun day in July, July 11th to be precise is nearly up us - 2pm start at the football club in Rhydymwyn. Plenty to see and do.
Also in July, on the 6th, David Rowe will be here to talk about his new book and to sign copies, Pubs and Breweries of Flintshire. The book is eagerly awaited and will be full of information and ancedotes about the pubs and breweries of Flintshire.

Do not forget our regular Sunday night Quiz; starts at 9pm with plenty of fun and prizes and teams can be of any number. We also Play Your Cards on a Sunday night now as well, The prize stands at £97.
Ivor will be here on the organ, 18th & 25th Saturdays of July all to sing along in Welsh and in English, come and join us for some good old "hwyl".Our new song book is printed and ready, full of the old favourites.
Remember our free folk night - the next one is on Monday, 8.0pm. July13th and Monday July 20th.
Sunday nights we have our community quiz. A general knowledge quiz for any number in a team. A fun night with a raffle and prizes for the winners. The raffle money goes into a fund to support on going and new activities in our villages. To date we have donated over £35,000 to activities in our community. In our Christmas Quiz we raised over £400 for the community.The more that participate the more we can donate and help others and support our community spirit. [as we are a pub no pun intended!!!]
Y Dderwen- The Oak is ideally suited for walkers. If you fancy camping we have an adjacent field that you can use. We are featured in a number of walking magazines. From here you can roam to Moel Fammau, Offa's Dyke, The Clwydian Hills or just potter around the forest tracks which are right on our doorstep. We are situated on the A541, some four miles west of Mold on the Mold to Denbigh Road. As you come out of the village of Hendre we are some 600 yards on the right - you can not miss us - plenty of parking spaces for groups of walkers.

Saturday nights are taken up with bingo and singing. On the first and 2nd Saturdays of July we play bingo with the snowball being over £200 at times - plenty of fun.
On the third and fourth Saturdays of July we sing with Ivor on the organ. All the old favourites being bellowed out in Welsh and in English. Do not worry if you do not know the words we have a special printed song book to help you - all the mod cons for a good time, with the new edition having just been printed.
We do not do food here at Y Dderwen-The Oak - however with prior arrangement we can provide you with a buffet. You tell us how much you want to spend per head, how many of you there are, and leave the rest to us. We contract out to a local lady who produces superb, tasty, food - well worth it and extremely good value for money.
